Hello Mrs. Hicks,

It’s Chase Vialpando with the Douglas Budget again. I apologize, I sent you the wrong set of questions. Here are the updated one specifically for your race.

I’d still appreciate a headshot and a brief background on yourself including schooling, experience, family, etc.

Also, I ask that you keep your answer to each question at 100 words or less.

All things restored; I have numerous friends who have adopted me as family. I have three children. I am married to Mark S. Hicks with one child at home. Success is not measured in money but in people.

  1. What’s your take on the downfall in the state economy and budget? How would you deal with it?

My take on the downfall in the state economy? We need the freedom to work. Covid devastated employment, however, I’m encouraged by those who look for an open door. One door is the meat industry. I welcome a plan to utilize the meat processing industry, and I support building a commercial meat plant company of WY. I would support the “exponential growth” Reference: “State Inspected Annual Processing Statistics for 2019”. I would add that the budget needs more efficient reform, leaving intact our classrooms, teachers, and most essential state services.

  1. Are you in favor of raising taxes and pay for education and state services? If so, what taxes and services would you raise?

I am not in favor of raising taxes. Look around at all the buildings and services. The voter has already suffered enough then to add to more hardship. The lack of employment has challenged the tax payer into a bind of losing homes, vehicles, and necessities. Some have to succumb to living with Dad and Mom again. I am not in support of raising taxes. We need spending reform.

  1. What specific issues will you focus on if elected? Why?

I support employment and the free enterprise system for business and economic development. Start with the basics and get through the first couple years. It promotes independence, personal reward, influence, prosperity, and ownership. I would support the use of minerals and agriculture both locally and nationally. Natural resources need to come back into light. It is sustainable and has outlived the structure of boom and bust Wyoming needs to fight for the ability to export its minerals and get our people to work.

Thanks,
